5 Types of At-Home Face Masks to the Rescue: How to Pick Which One is Best for You

Let's check out the different types masks on the market today.

Cream masks

Ideal for people with normal to dry skin types. Cream masks are typically rich in oils and moisturizers that penetrate deeply to replenish dry cells. Masks that contain hyaluronic acid have the added benefit of attracting and binding moisture to flat skin cells to plump them up while the virgin coconut oil firms and tones the skin.

Clay masks

Ideal for those with normal to oily skin types. Clay mask naturally detoxify the skin as it hydrates without using oil which is a great option for normal and oily skin types. If your skin is inflamed, look for a clay mask to soothe redness. Clay-based masks can take some time to take off so don't be aggressive with your skin as you remove it. Wet your washcloth with lots of warm water and lean over the sink and wipe your skin gently. Just keep adding more warm water to your face cloth and clay will eventually loosen up.

Gel mask

Ideal for those with dry and sensitive skin conditions. The soothing, cooling effect of a gel mask is great for dry and sensitive skin types that need hydration. Gel masks are typically infused with collagen and antioxidants to help with any skin injury but more important they help with hydrating the skin.

Sheet masks

The easiest and quickest way to mask is with sheet masks. In fact, you don't need to rinse your face after you remove your sheet mask. Simply apply your moisturizer and you're done!

Masking is one of the quickest ways to treat your skin with kindness if you haven't done so recently. It literally doesn't take up much time especially if you leave it on as an overnight treatment. If you are going to just leave it on for 30 minutes you can do other things around your home or make it part of your self-care routine and just sit back, relax, turn on your diffuser and breathe. Doesn't that sound lovely?
