9 Tips on How to Create a No Makeup Look for Summer
The “No makeup” look is basically the opposite of the typical IG makeup we see; a ton of - bold brows, full coverage foundation, thick liners, and so on. With summer just a few weeks away you may want to go with lighter makeup or simply let your skin breathe. We’ve broken down the best tips and tricks for this natural trend as well as rounded up our favourite products to get you there quick and easy.
1.Prep the skin
Prep your skin with natural skincare ingredients, hyaluronic acid vitamin C, that can help moisturize, smooth, plump, reduce the appearance of redness & fight signs of aging.
One of the best ways to get that glowy, natural skin is by taking care of your skin barrier. After cleansing your face, treat your face with Pure Fiji’s Papaya Purifying Enzyme Masque before applying makeup. This gently exfoliates dry skin cells to reveal fresher, more youthful looking skin while evening skin tone.
2. Cut your foundation
Go light on the coverage. Steer clear of thick, full coverage foundations for this look. If you’ve been blessed with a normal skin type (well, you’re definitely one of the lucky ones) then you won’t need any coverage.
Moisturizer is a great way to sheer out your foundation. Start with equal amounts of each—one pea-sized dot of foundation and one of moisturizer mixed together on your palm. Then, depending on how much coverage you need you can play with the ratio. If you need more pigmentation, do one third moisturizer and two thirds foundation. Mixing the two together has added benefits as well. The moisturizer gives your foundation added slip, so it blends better and hydrates the skin at the same time. And it will give the appearance of your makeup being one with your skin.
3. Use a lightweight concealer for blemishes
If you’re not comfortable letting your blemishes or dark circles show through, you can use a light layer of hydrating concealer. Blend with your fingers—the warmth of your skin makes the product melt right in, leaving a natural finish.
4. Choose creams versus powders
Creams make everything just blend and sink right in, and it looks more natural than powders. After applying your foundation and concealer, blend a cream bronzer with a damp sponge. Set lightly with a sun-kissed bronzer if you’re worried about everything lasting all day or keeping all the glowy goodness lock it in with a setting spray. Apply bronzer to the cheekbones and the temples, and even blend it on eyelids as eyeshadow to create dimension and intensify the look a little bit without going overboard.
5. Natural dew
Adding a nice dewiness to the tops of the cheekbones can go a long way in making your face look natural but still glowy. Rather than going for a traditional shimmery highlighter which may be better for an evening look, choose a facial oil like Pure Fiji’s Hydrate and Nourish Luxury Face Oil. This basically looks like natural dew to the skin. The texture of the product will also blend right in with all the other cream products on the face. It can also be used as a natural highlighter on cheekbones, down the nose and above eyebrows.
6. Rosy cheeks
There’s something about a natural, blushed look to the skin that is so gorgeous and unpolished. Get that look the easy way by adding a little bit of cream blush to the apples of the cheeks, up onto the temples, and right on the bridge of the nose.
7.Work those fluffy brows
Brows help accentuate the eyes, shape the face, and play a powerful role in communication. While not everyone is born with perfectly manicured brows, eyebrows should be routinely trimmed, shaped, and filled. Bushy, unruly brows are both accepted and encouraged when it comes to natural looking makeup. Enhance the beauty of your natural brows with a precise eyebrow pencil. Draw on hair-like strokes in quick flicks over any areas that could use some extra love. Just brush your brows upward using an eyebrow gel or wax to your desired shape.
8. No mascara
The skin is the star of the show with this look, so it’s okay not to focus on the lashes. That means no eyeliners. To keep it natural, brush up those hairs with a dry spoolie to your desired shape. Check out any gaps or sparse areas, then fill in just those spots with your brow pencil or crayon. No need to outline the brow with any harsh lines—just draw in wisps of hair where you need to make them appear full. Then set with a swipe of brow gel (whether tinted or clear), and you're good to go.
9. Finish with a lip balm
The last step of your no-makeup makeup look is colouring your lips.
Hydrated lips are key to an ethereal glow. Prep your lips with Pure Fiji’s Coconut Sugar Lip Polish 2 in 1 treatment. Coconut sugar rub and cold pressed organic coconut and Dilo oils will buff away dry, flaky skin and infuse moisture, leaving lips soft and supple. For a bare look finish off with Pure Fiji’s Nourishing Lip Balm. This nourishing lip balm is made with fresh coconut milk, Dilo oil, macadamia oil, castor oil and beeswax to leave lips deeply moisturized, soft and supple with a tropical pina colada flavour. Oh yum! If you want a little bit of colour apply a cream lipstick in a shade as close as possible to the natural colour of your lips.
